Who We Are

Rooted Outdoor Education is more than a school—it’s a living, breathing ecosystem of curiosity, care, and connection. We are educators, nature guides, and lifelong learners who believe that real education comes from relationship—between children and the land, between students and mentors, and between the inner and outer world.

Our pedagogy is rooted in:

  • Curiosity-Driven Learning – following children’s interests while gently weaving in foundational skills

  • Nature Connection – using seasonal rhythms, ecological observation, and stewardship as the backdrop for learning

  • Emotional Intelligence – modeling and encouraging mindfulness, communication, and compassionate problem-solving

  • Non-Coercive Guidance – supporting autonomy while fostering community through mutual respect

We believe that by nurturing the whole child—mind, heart, and body—we help prepare learners not just for school, but for life.

We Create a Nurturing Environment for Each Child

A Safe, Caring Place to Grow

At Rooted, every child is seen, heard, and valued. Our educators create an emotionally safe and physically inspiring environment where children are free to express themselves, take initiative, and build deep roots of confidence.

Through open-ended, play-based experiences, children develop essential life skills: empathy, resilience, collaboration, and respect for all living things. We foster a strong sense of community—where children not only feel safe but develop pride in being part of something meaningful and lasting.
